Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has explained that he has been thoroughly impressed with his midfield gem Ross Barkley’s form and attitude for the Blues as well as the England national team this season.
Barkley has found it rather difficult to settle under life at Chelsea since his move from Everton. But it seems like Frank Lampard is willing to give the midfielder a chance to showcase his ability if he keeps on persisting and knocking on the door.
Barkley was in sublime form for his national team England against Bulgaria earlier this week as he netted twice and also grabbed an assist in the 6-0 hammering during the international break for the Euro 2020 qualifiers.
Despite being in and out of the Chelsea starting lineup, the 25-year-old is eager to continue his impressive displays and forge them into club level to nail down a starting berth for the west London club under Lampard’s guidance.
Chelsea welcomes Newcastle United at Stamford Bridge on Saturday and Lampard has waxed lyrical about Barkley claming that he was impressed with the midfielder’s willingness to learn and improve on a regular basis, “One thing I have found from working with Ross is that he really wants to learn and improve. He wants to listen and he has great talent. That is probably why people have judged him to be at a level from a young age because we do get excited when a great talent comes through in England. His move here to Chelsea where it is competitive has given him challenges, and it is up to him to show what he showed for England on Monday night, and what he is showing in parts already since I have been here because midfield players who can go by a player and who can use right and left foot and conjure a moment out of nothing are gold.”
Lampard also went on the admit that Barkley has the complete game but can still get better than his current show, “But then you have to have the complete game with that and Ross certainly has those talents and can get better.”
