Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has admitted that he has a plan for midfield gem N’golo Kante and his position on the pitch for the upcoming season.
Former Blue midfielder Frank Lampard agreed to sign a three-year contract with the club as a manager after spending 13 years at Stamford Bridge as a player. The 41-year-old ex-English midfielder was unveiled as the club’s boss earlier on Thursday and has succeeded Maurizio Sarri.
Lampard has a big task on his hands as he plans on getting Chelsea back to competing for major honors even though Sarri won the Europa League in just one season at the club. But the 60-year-old Italian master tactician was heavily criticized for persisting with his philosophy as he changed the position of N’golo Kante to fit in Jorginho in midfield.
But new Chelsea manager Frank Lampard admitted that Kante’s position will be identified to get the best out of the player and for the team. The all-time top scorer for Chelsea was asked whether he has a plan for the Frenchman to which he replied, “Yeah I do, thankfully. I’m not going to sit here and say how we’re going to look next season because we’re starting pre-season tomorrow and the players are coming back.”
Lampard then showered praise on the World Cup winner and explained the pleasure of working alongside him for the future, “I think and I’ve said before Kante is one of the greatest midfielders in the world. ‘In the last few years, his performances have been outstanding. One of the pleasures of me getting this job is that I’m able to work with players of that quality. My job would be to find the best position to get the best out of him on the team. I’m fortunate to have a player like him, we’ll work, but I know the qualities and attributes he has and will try to get the most out of him.”
