Chelsea coach, Frank Lampard will face Manchester City in the home game at Stamford Bridge and this match can be the crucial point of his managerial phase.
Chelsea has just collected four points in their last four games and if Chelsea is unable to get all the three points or tastes defeat, the situation can terribly worsen. Ahead of this high voltage match, Lampard has given the latest updates on the fitness of his two important players.
The coach has ruled out the possibility of Reec James playing due to a slight muscle injury while Hakim Ziyech is still questionable for the home game.
Regarding the Moroccan international, the coach has not made up his mind whether he should opt to put him on the field or not. Lampard stated that Hakim has trained normally with the squad in the previous three days.
‘Reece James is out, he’s got a small hamstring problem,’ reported Lampard as per the Chelsea Official Website.
On Ziyech, the boss added: ‘He’s fit to train and has trained the last two or three days so I’ll have to make the decision on whether he’s ready to start.’
The Blues coach also shed light on his awareness regarding Man City’s match against Everton getting postponed due to the cases of Covid-19 in the squad. He and his team expect that there will be no disruption and the first game of the year 2021 will be held as per the schedule.
‘I’ve not been given the chances of the game being postponed but I’m aware of the situation and at the moment the game is on,’ he added.
‘We know that Manchester City had some positives within their training ground. We have had a couple ourselves but not on the playing staff and that’s the current situation.’
It will be a neck to neck battle undoubtedly as both the clubs will need a win to climb up the Premier League ladder. Chelsea will be hoping to earn their third consecutive home win against City and no doubt Pep Guardiola is strategizing to prevent that.
