Frank Lampard bids goodbye to Manchester United star, Wayne Rooney

Chelsea coach, Frank Lampard has wished his England compatriot, Wayne Rooney luck for his future challenges as the Manchester United star hung up his boots permanently.

Lampard has featured in 106 games alongside Rooney for the England national team and the Blues coach has opened up after hearing the retirement of his former teammate. Rooney has taken up a managerial position following his retirement and Lampard spoke highly about him after his 1-0 victory against Fulham at Craven Cottage.

Since last year from the month of November, Rooney has carried out duties as a temporary interim charge at pride Park which he has finally made his permanent role.

‘He was an amazing player,’ reflected Lampard on the Chelsea Official Website.

‘Maybe now he’s officially finished that level will go up in terms of recognition. It won’t do amongst the football world and people who have played with him because he was an incredible talent. Playing with him for England was an absolute pleasure for me. What a player on the world stage he was.

‘Now I just wish him well. He has spoken about wanting to go into management for a while, and he has the desire, the know-how, and the attitude. I have seen him on the training ground and how much he wants to win and to work in a professional environment. That is what drives us in this game. I wish him well and he’s at a great club to start.’

Rooney started his career playing with Everton and came into the spotlight when he scored a fantastic winner against the mighty Arsenal team. He then joined Manchester United where he was a force to be reckoned with alongside the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Carlos Tevez.

That team triumphed Europe as well as domestically under the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson. He even became the highest goal scorer for Manchester United. (and for England too)

The Blues Boss has faced off numerous times as rivals as well against Rooney- most notable is the Manchester United vs Chelsea fixtures in Premier League. Now he has chosen the same career as Lampard and Lampard thinks he has the right attitude to pursue in this field.
