Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has explained that he would like star winger Callum Hudson Odoi to remain at Stamford Bridge amid transfer links to Bayern Munich.
The Blues are in line for a difficult season this term as they will face a transfer ban which means they cannot sign any players for two transfer windows. New Chelsea boss Frank Lampard will not be able to lure players at Stamford Bridge for a whole year and also make sure that he keeps hold of some key players for the future.
One player that caught the eye of plenty of top suitors across the European continent was English star Callum Hudson Odoi as the teenage sensation made the most of his limited appearances for Chelsea last season and made his mark in the Europa League as he scored four goals in nine appearances for the West London outfit.
The Chelsea faithful were disappointed that Maurizio Sarri did not hand Hudson Odoi regular football but Frank Lampard has stated that he wants to keep hold of the 18-year-old and fend off interest from the Bundesliga champions.
While speaking to reporters, Lampard said that he intends on working towards keeping Hudson Odoi at Stamford Bridge, “Callum has all the attributes to play and make similar statements on the world scene from what we have seen with Jadon Sancho [at Borussia Dortmund] and other great players around the world”.
The 41-year-old former midfielder also explained, “I will pay a lot of care and a lot of attention to Callum to try to get him to stay, because of the contractual position that he is in. Not [with] any lies or false statements to him. I know what a player he is. He can be an incredible player and he has improved to make and I want to work with him to do it. But for that, he needs to stay longer at the club and of course, that then goes to a decision between him and the club itself. I can see him being a huge player for us.”
