It promises to be an interesting match as the Blues host the Foxes at home as much is expected from Frank Lampard’s youthful side.
The reality check may have done on the Chelsea (legend) manager if they fail to pick up the three points as all eyes will be on the Lampard team decision and how they line-up against the Foxes. With the match-up between both sides that have won the EPL in recent times, we evaluate four key players to look forward to their contribution on the pitch.
Oliver Giroud
Chelsea boss Frank Lampard may well be tempted to start the French striker ahead of the Leicester City match on Sunday. He started against Liverpool in the Super Cup clash and scored to give his Chelsea side the lead in the game. His counterpart Tammy Abraham started from the bench and missed the decisive spot-kick during the penalty-shootout. This may not be good for his (Tammy) confidence as his manager has rallied behind him with positive words aftermath of the loss to Liverpool. We may well see Giroud lead the charge for goals as the Blues guns for their first competitive win under new boss Frank Lampard when Leicester visits on Sunday.
Wilfred Ndidi
The young Nigerian midfielder would be a key figure as he attempts to cover the ground for his Leicester side in the match. Manchester United and Liverpool were linked to the player’s services at some points and this is a proof of his immense contribution at Leicester City. This makes him a key player for Brendan Rodgers as the Foxes travel to Stamford Bridge on Sunday. Much would be expected from him if the Leicester City side will hamper Chelsea’s ambitions of a home victory.
Mason Mount
Manchester United was tested in the midfield area even as Chelsea began the season losing 0-4 to the Red Devils at Old Trafford. It promises to be an interesting one as the young lad is set to play behind the Chelsea number 9 depending on who Frank Lampard chooses to start on the Blue shirt. He’s been exciting against the big boys (United and Liverpool) as he almost got the winning goal against the Reds during the Super Cup clash even as Chelsea faces the Leicester side at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
Jamie Vardy
As the match draws closer by the day, one player that can make the difference against Chelsea is the experienced striker Jamie Vardy. The player who turned down a move to Arsenal some season back will be a massive boost to his side Leicester when they take on Chelsea at the Bridge. As the Blues host the Foxes, expect Vardy’s brilliance and goal-scoring ability to come into play as he scored at Stamford Bridge to condemn Chelsea to a 0-1 defeat in front of their home fans.
