Former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has insisted he has no interest in managing Aston Villa despite rumours that he might be a candidate to succeed Steven Gerrard.
The Champions League-winning coach hasn’t had a job since Todd Boehly mercilessly fired him in September after a 1-0 loss to Dinamo Zagreb in Croatia only days after the transfer window shut.
Tuchel reportedly declined Bayer Leverkusen and is now eagerly waiting for the opportunity to return to management after a brief hiatus. Because he is thought to have admirers at Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, Tuchel is hesitant to start another project right now.
According to The Telegraph, the 49-year-old has no interest in the vacant position at Villa and would politely reject such contact from the Midlands club. Tuchel wanted to continue with the Blues in the future, thus it’s clear that his exit from Chelsea has not gone down well with the former PSG boss.
The Villa hierarchy is also said to adore Mauricio Pochettino, despite the Argentine manager’s lack of managerial experience following his departure from Paris Saint-Germain.
He was fired by Tottenham in November 2019, thus it’s unknown at this time if he would be interested in the Villa position. Another highly regarded coach is former Brentford manager Thomas Frank, whose team will play at Villa Park on Sunday.
