Former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho tipped for a return to Stamford Bridge

Former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has been tipped for a return to Stamford Bridge where the current head coach Graham Potter could face the axe should his side’s recent run of woeful form fail to ebb.

According to a report from football.london, despite claims that the Chelsea board continue to back Potter, the former Blues manager Jose Mourinho could be one of the names on Todd Boehly’s shortlist if Potter is handed the sack.

Potter is facing further pressure over his position after yet another defeat for the Blues who lost 1-0 to basement side Southampton over the weekend on home turf with James Ward Prowse’s free kick winning the game for the Saints.

Chelsea sit 10th in the Premier League table after the weekend’s defeat to Southampton and with 10 points outside the Champions League places, the west London giants are all but certain to miss out on a top four finish this season.

A further deterioration in results could result in Potter’s exit from the Stamford Bridge camp with Boehly, who has spent big on bolstering the squad, likely to look at other options to take over the managerial reigns.
