Fabrizio Romano has claimed that the Italians are poised to complete the signing of the Chelsea central defender in a deal worth €28.5 million which will become official very soon.
Tomori had been backed to sign for AC Milan this summer
The young and promising England international had been shipped off to the Serie A earlier this year with playing opportunities coming his way proving sparse in recent times.
On the back of a fantastic loan spell in Italy where he featured in 17 league outings for the Champions League hopefuls, Tomori had been a priority signing for Milan boss Pioli.
Chelsea to add a new centre-back following Tomori’s exit?
The departure of the 22-year-old Tomori from Stamford Bridge could mean that Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel will be urged to use the transfer window to bring in a new defensive face to bolster his options at the back.
Real Madrid’s contract rebel Raphael Varane is one such name that has been linked with a summer move to west London but coaxing the La Liga heavyweights for a cut-price deal on the Frenchman could prove to be a difficult task for the Blues.
