Chelsea coach, Frank Lampard opened on the West Ham game his team will play on Monday and he said that the history with West Ham United won’t influence any decision that he will make. The Chelsea manager also seemed confident that his two-star players, Kai Havertz and Timo Werner will certainly get his form back as soon as possible.
Lampard has quite a complicated relationship with West Ham and has been subjected to the anger of their fans as he began his career in the Chelsea club just like his father.
Although he says that this boosts his confidence and gives a huge motivation to play against them, he should also take responsibility for the whole squad putting aside his personal feelings since he is now the Blues’ manager.
‘If I’m honest it did have extra meaning when I played. As a manager, in my role now, it doesn’t,’ explained Lampard as per the Official Chelsea Website.
‘Maybe I’ve mellowed or something’s changed, but also I focus on what’s necessary for the club.’
‘I took it on me personally to really get up for a game against West Ham because I played for them before, but now I don’t. I just see it as another game, particularly off the back of two defeats for us. It’s an important game just for us to approach in a way of we want to get back on track where we were before these two games.’
‘I think he’s doing a great job,’ said Lampard. ‘They have good players, but the way they’re playing and the consistency they’ve got, the levels they’ve got to this season, have been really impressive.
‘They’ve got an experienced, very good manager, who’s obviously got his message across to them and they’re playing really well. The organisation of their team, the style they play, is difficult to play against. They have threats on the counter-attack, they’re very good at set-pieces. So they’re just playing very well.’
That task of returning to winning terms will quite be difficult for Lampard as they halted with two successive Premier League defeats. The latest defeat came against the Wolves where they lost 2-1 as Neto scored a late winner in the game.
David Moyes’ West Ham will be tough to face as they are a point below in the table and their star player Declan Rice will be highly encouraged to show what he is capable of to the Blues.
