Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Leicester City centre-back Wesley Fofana, a top target for Thomas Tuchel, is keen to sign for Chelsea this summer.
Fofana has emerged as a priority name on the shopping list at Stamford Bridge with Tuchel on the lookout for defensive reinforcements to shore up his options in the backline.
Despite Fofana penning a five-year contract extension with Leicester just a few months ago, the club is open to parting ways with the French defender but only if Chelsea table a sizable offer as Leicester sits in the driving seat in the negotiations.
Chelsea are said to be close to signing the 21-year-old who has already agreed upon personal terms with the Stamford Bridge giants and become their latest recruit of a busy summer window for Tuchel and Co.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, the Italian transfer guru Romano has revealed that Chelsea will lodge an improved offer to sign the Foxes star with the player already convinced on the idea of joining the west Londoners.
“Chelsea will make a new bid for Wesley Fofana.
“They want to try again, they want to push again.
“The player is tempted by Chelsea and wants to join Chelsea.
“There are intermediaries as said [before], and Chelsea are still in direct contact with the intermediaries.
“So work in progress with Chelsea [expected] to try again in the next days.”
