Cesc Fabregas believes Ziyech-Werner duo can make Chelsea a force to be reckoned with

Chelsea’s former player, Cesc Fabregas has praised the new duo- Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner and say that they can make Chelsea a force to be reckoned with in this campaign. Both these players are in the tremendous form currently even though they admit to not adapting 100% to their new environment.

Hakim Ziyech was the first new addition for the club as they bought him for a £36million deal from Ajax in the month of February. Then came the German striker, Werner from Bundesliga side RB Leipzig that cost Chelsea £47.5m this summer.

Ziyech assisted twice against Sheffield United before the international break while Werner scored too. The west London club appears to reap the benefits after their major spending as they won four games continuously before the international break. The club is also having an unbeaten streak since they lost in the Carabao Cup against Tottenham which ended in a tiebreaker.

Asked about Ziyech’s impact, ex-Chelsea midfielder Fabregas told 90min as per Metro news: “He has this vision that you need in a top team like Chelsea who wants to win and be champions.”

“It’s true that they were a team a little bit lacking ideas in the last season and maybe at the beginning of this season.”

“But yeah, with Ziyech, you can see that he has this last pass and it’s not only that he sees it, but it’s also that he makes it right and at the right time. This is the decision-making we talk about nowadays. Why are coaches so tactical? Because they see that the decision-making of the players is not that good so they need to teach them always what to do.”

“You know, before, I believe coaches were not so much on top of the player because they felt maybe that there wasn’t so much need because already the players sort it by themselves.”

Fabregas added: “I think he’s one of these players that makes things happen. ‘Things that, when the defenders or the center-backs don’t expect you to make that pass and you catch them sleeping.”

“And you have someone like Timo Werner making great runs in behind and I think this is where Chelsea could be so powerful this year.”

Ziyech became the first player since Diego Costa to earn a goal in his debut. He also netted twice for his country in Morocco’s 4-1 win against the Central African Republic. Werner, meanwhile, is proving to be a goal machine as he has scored seven goals in his last seven games for the club.
