Everton have reportedly stepped up their efforts to re-sign midfielder Ross Barkley from Chelsea with Frank Lampard keen on moving in for the 28-year-old this summer.
Barkley is far down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge and the 33-time England international is looking to secure a move elsewhere on a permanent basis before the transfer window slams shut.
According to a report from 90min, Everton are credited with a strong interest in their former starlet who left Goodison Park to sign for Chelsea in January 2018 but has endured a difficult spell in the English capital.
Barkley is understood to be eager to return to his boyhood club Everton in advanced talks over a summer transfer for the midfield man’s move back to the Goodison Park which is likely to receive the nod from the Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel.
Barkley has made 99 outings in all competitions for Chelsea since his switch to the Bridge but has been unable to break into the starting team sheet and make a lasting impact on a number of managers at the club.
