Everton are suggested to be in line to appoint Chelsea icon Frank Lampard as the new manager following a final round of interviews.
The former Chelsea boss, who has also occupied the top job at Championship outfit Derby County, is close to taking over the vacancy at Goodison Park which opened up following the sacking of Rafael Benítez.
According to reports from The Guardian, it is claimed that Everton’s majority shareholder, Farhad Moshiri, has been left impressed by Lampard and wants the Stamford Bridge hero to succeed Benítez with Everton hoping for a major turnaround in the second half of the campaign.
The fear of a first relegation in 71 years would be of much concern to Moshiri and members of the Everton board who have interviewed the likes of Duncan Ferguson and Vítor Pereira alongside Lampard ahead of Monday’s deadline day.
Lampard had been handed the axe by Chelsea towards the backend of January 2021 with the German coach Thomas Tuchel announced to be the former’s successor just a day later.
