Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly in the running to rival Chelsea for signing Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford in the summer transfer window later this year.
Pickford has been one of Everton’s most influential performers despite the Merseyside outfit’s woeful form in the campaign and the England international shot-stopper could be heading out the exit door at Goodison Park sooner rather than later.
His current terms with Frank Lampard’s side are due to expire in 2024 and Everton might need to cash in on their first-team star to avoid losing him for free at the end of the next season, according to a report from The Daily Express.
It is said that Chelsea, who have been credited with an interest in the Everton goalie previously as the Blues look to bring in a new No.1 amid uncertainty over Edouard Mendy’s future, are expected to be challenged on the transfer front by city rivals Tottenham.
Spurs are seeking a long-term replacement for the 36-year-old Frenchman Hugo Lloris with his best days well behind him and Antonio Conte’s North Londoners are keeping close tabs on Pickford’s situation ahead of next summer.
