Europe’s biggest clubs are set to compete for Chelsea midfielder Jorginho with the Italy international’s future at Stamford Bridge attracting speculation.
Jorginho has grown into one of the top players under Thomas Tuchel’s charge in the English capital but is yet to put pen to paper on a new long-term deal amid interest in his services from elsewhere.
Chelsea’s policy for extending a long-term deal to players above the age of 30 could make things difficult on the contract front for Jorginho who will look to demand an exit with no shortage of suitors in the transfer market for the former Napoli man.
The likes of Juventus and Barcelona have been credited with a strong interest in the Chelsea maestro but Jorginho’s agent while speaking to Tuttomercatoweb has claimed that the race is heating up for the player’s signature.
According to Joao Santos, five of Italy’s biggest heavyweights in AC Milan, Inter Milan, Juventus, Roma and Napoli are keeping close tabs on Jorgingo’s contract situation and could be in line to launch a bid heading into the summer window.
“Playing in Serie A is a dream for him and his heart remains here.
“As things stand today, he could play for four or five clubs: Milan, Inter, Juve, Roma or Napoli. There are many clubs interested in him. In the past I spoke to PSG, Barcelona and also Milan’s Ricky Massara. I don’t know if the Rossoneri are still interested, though.
The fact remains, we can’t do anything now because Chelsea are not allowed to sell, buy or renew contracts. Jorginho has a contract until June 2023, after the World Cup we’ll see about working on a renewal.”
