Premier League new boys Fulham are nearing a loan agreement for Chelsea FC starlet Ethan Ampadu ahead of next season. Ampadu had spent the 2019-20 season on a loan spell away from Stamford Bridge as well at Bundesliga side RB Leipzig.
Chelsea FC boss Frank Lampard is hopeful that another season-long loan for the 19-year old could benefit his development. The defender is highly unlikely to get much of first-team involvement in the Blues squad next season. As a result, Lampard is wanting to sanction a loan deal for Ampadu to foster his growth as a first-team regular for the Blues in the future.
A move to Fulham, Chelsea FC’s city rivals, is seemingly likely for the 19-year old Welsh international. Scott Parker’s side have expressed interest in signing the Blues starlet on loan for their upcoming league campaign in England’s top-flight division.
Norwich City, who were recently subject to relegation from the Premier League, were earlier contenders to land Ampadu’s signature this summer. However, Fulham are now believed to be in pole position to sign the Welshman after sealing promotion to the Premier League. Scott Parker is hopeful of Ampadu being a quality addition at center-back for his side’s first-team squad.
The 19-year old did not endure the most productive of times while on loan at RB Leipzig. Ampadu was a relatively sporadic part of Julian Nagelsmann’s set up at the German side. He made a total of just seven competitive appearances for the Bundesliga outfit, three of which came in the Champions League.
