Edouard Mendy is said to be likely to leave Chelsea this summer ahead of Kepa Arrizabalaga with the Blues planning to sign a new goalkeeper.
The 31-year-old Mendy has earned regular game time for the second half of the season in favour of Kepa with both goalkeepers set to enter the final two years of their respective contracts this summer.
According to a report from 90min, it is claimed that despite Chelsea preferring to cash in on Kepa, the Spaniard’s high wages have proved to be a stumbling block in a move elsewhere for him which could set the stage for Mendy to head out the exit door.
Kepa’s wage demands are expected to limit his options this summer and could push Mendy closer to parting ways with Chelsea who are hopeful that other clubs would be interested in signing the Champions League winner.
Chelsea have a number of big-name goalkeepers on their summer wish list with Inter’s Andre Onana a target for the Blues alongside the in-demand Brighton No.1 Robert Sanchez and Brentford’s David Raya.
