Chelsea’s No.1 Edouard Mendy has bagged the coveted UEFA Champions League goalkeeper of the season honour after his spending showings last season between the sticks.
Thomas Tuchel’s west Londoners were crowned the Champions of Europe following a narrow win over domestic rivals Manchester City in the final in May with the German coach picking up his first piece of silverware at Stamford Bridge.

Mendy, who linked up with the Blues in the last summer transfer window, had a huge role to play in Chelsea’s showings across the Champions League campaign and was announced as the UEFA Champions League goalkeeper of the season on Thursday.
The Senegalese shot-stopper put up incredible numbers while manning the goalposts for Chelsea last season in European club football, conceding just four goals and keeping nine clean sheets in 12 outings, a new record for a Premier League goalie.
Manchester City’s defensive mainstay Ruben Dias was announced as the UEFA Champions League defender of the season for his superlative run of form for City who finished runners-up to Chelsea.
