Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea started their Champions League campaign with a defeat in Croatia with the Blues falling to a 1-0 loss to the home side Dinamo Zagreb.

Both teams got the game underway on equal footing even as Chelsea looked to create opportunities in the attacking third through the likes of Raheem Sterling and new boy Aubameyang.

The Dinamo supporters, however, had something to celebrate early on when frontman Orsic was teed up by Bruno Petkovic and the former raced past Chelsea’s new centre-back Wesley Fofana.

Orsic made no mistake in slotting his effort past the Blues shot-stopper Kepa to make it 1-0 for the home side and the remainder of the first half saw Dinamo fashion the better chances going forward.

Thomas Tuchel rang in a change from the bench at half time with Hakim Ziyech coming on as Chelsea struggled to make the most of their dominance on the pitch in search of the leveller.

Aubameyang had the ball in the back of the net from a Chilwell lay-off but the celebrations were short lived with the latter adjudged offside in the build up.

Substitute Broja came close with an effort on goal soon after being introduced off the bench while Reece James fired a left-footed shot against the foot of the post in the final minutes of the group stage outing with Chelsea unable to find a way past the Dinamo backline.
