Chelsea’s Italian wing-back Davide Zappacosta is in line to complete his move to Atalanta with the Serie A outfit set to sign the player on a permanent basis.
Zappacosta had been long linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge in this summer’s transfer window as speculation was rife that the defender will be seeking a return to his homeland.

Reports from Fabrizio Romano now confirm that the 29-year-old Chelsea outcast is nearing his transfer to Atalanta who will be signing him on a four-year deal that will run until the summer of 2025.
The player had spent the 2020-21 campaign in a season-long loan stint at Genoa in the Serie A but the club had backed out of extending a permanent offer to Chelsea which meant that other clubs joined in on the race.
Fiorentina had also been in the fray for the full-back but it is believed that Atalanta emerged as the prime candidate to land Zappacosta’s signature which has courted much attention this summer with Chelsea eager to get him off their books.
