Chelsea FC and Manchester United have both expressed concrete interest in signing the versatile defender ahead of next season. Both Premier League giants have been facing a defensive crisis of late as witnessed in recent months.
Signing a player of Alaba’s quality could be a massive step for Lampard to fortify his Blues’ backline that has struggled for consistency across the 2019-20 league campaign. Despite being a natural left-back, the 28-year old has been shifted to the center-back role this season in which the Austrian international has flourished.
