Chelsea confirmed another major outgoing in the final hours of this summer’s transfer window with first-team outcast Danny Drinkwater joining Championship outfit Reading on loan.
Reports from the club’s official website confirm that the former Leicester City midfield man has linked up with Reading to become their second recruit from the Chelsea camp this summer after left-back Baba Rahman’s move earlier.

Drinkwater will be expected to obtain regular minutes on the pitch during his time away from Stamford Bridge this season with the player no longer assured of a first-team berth at his parent club despite his high-profile move from Leicester in the summer of 2017.
His exit from the Blues to sign for Reading becomes the second midfielder to leave Chelsea on loan after another fringe player in Tiémoué Bakayoko made his much-anticipated move to AC Milan on a two-year-long loan spell.
Bakayoko had been heavily backed to call it quits at Chelsea this summer following his fall down the pecking order with the boss Thomas Tuchel also keeping on shipping out the former Monaco man before the transfer window shut.
