It is a return to the starting team sheet for Marcos Alonso with the likes of Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Cesar Azpilicueta also coming in for the midweek contest in Sweden.
Thomas Tuchel’s men go up against the domestic champions Malmo in the group stage outing of the Champions League fresh on the back of a 3-0 away win at Newcastle United.
Tuchel decides against making major changes in defence
Much to the surprise of a large section of the fanbase, the Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has not rotated his options at the back with Antonio Rudiger, Thiago Silva and Andreas Christensen keeping their places.
There are changes due to the wing-back roles with Reece James and Ben Chilwell dropping out to be replaced by Spanish duo Cesar Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso.
Loftus-Cheek pips Saul to starting role in midfield
With the likes of Mateo Kovacic and N’Golo Kante sidelined for the game, Saul Niguez has been expected to secure a berth on the team sheet but it is Ruben Loftus-Cheek who partners Jorghinho in the centre of the park.
In the forward lineup with Mason Mount ruled out with an illness, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Hakim Ziyech operate on the flanks as Kai Havertz functions in the central striking role.
Here is how both teams line up for today’s Champions League fixture:
