Timo Werner is issued a recall back into the Chelsea starting eleven as the Blues play hosts to Manchester City in the semi-finals of the FA Cup this Sunday evening at Stamford Bridge.
The German international had been sidelined of late from Thomas Tuchel first-team plans with Kai Havertz assuming the central striking role for the west London giants.
A new-look front trio to take field for Chelsea
Alongside Werner in the frontline for the hosts are Mason Mount and Hakim Ziyech as both Christian Pulisic and Kai Havertz are offered some rest after the pairing’s impressive streak of attacking showings in recent weeks.
Ziyech too, like Werner, had been a benchwarmer of late at the Bridge despite the Moroccon playmaker putting in some solid displays in what has been a limited round of game time for him since his move from Ajax last summer.
Thiago Silva retains his spot in the three-man defence
There is no Andres Christensen on the teamsheet for Chelsea due to unknown reasons which means that the veteran Thiago Silva retains his place as the focal point in the backline.
Kurt Zouma remains on the bench as the Frenchman is not offered a rare look into the starting XI for the weekend cup fixture.
Here is how both teams line up for today’s Champions League fixture:
