N’Golo Kante returns to the teamsheet for Chelsea in a much-changed lineup that squares up against the league’s new boys Brentford on Saturday.
Thomas Tuchel heavily tinkers around with his XI for today’s game with the Chelsea boss having to deal with increasing troubles on the injury front.
Chalobah and Sarr start in the heart of the defence
With Antonio Rudiger missing due to injury and Thiago Silva unavailable for selection after a late return from the international break, Tuchel is forced to hand starts to Trevor Chalobah and Malang Sarr at the back.
Both new inductees into the Chelsea starting XI partner Andreas Christensen and with Reece James on the bench after his return from an ankle injury, Cesar Azpilicueta fills in at right wing-back.
Jorginho benched, Ruben Loftus-Cheek handed a rare start
In a surprising decision made by Tuchel, his midfield anchorman Jorginho has to settle with a place on the bench with Ruben Loftus-Cheek partnering Kanet and Mateo Kovacic in the centre of the park.
Up top on the pitch, it is the summer signing Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner who will bear the brunt of the attacking responsibility against a solid looking Brentford defence.
Here is how both teams line up for today’s Premier League fixture:
