The Blues have been dealt a major setback in the race for signing Borussia Dortmund’s Christian Pulisic in the winter transfer window as the club has stated that he is not for sale.
Ever since Maurizio Sarri has taken over as the head coach for Chelsea in the summer, the Italian has guided the West London club to third place in the Premier League. Chelsea is yet to face a defeat this term but is still struggling for a top goalscorer. Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud have not really made the desired impact for Sarri as he will look into the transfer market in order to re-enforce his squad.
According to reports, Chelsea were frontrunners and set to sign Borussia Dortmund hitman Christian Pulisic in the January transfer window. It was also claimed that a £70 million deal was on the table for Dortmund to sell their 20-year-old wonder-kid to the Stamford Bridge outfit. The pacey striker is eager for regular football and his opportunities at the Westfalestadion are limited at the moment.
A move away from Dortmund was imminent and Chelsea was licking their lips on the prospect of an exciting player entering the West London club, but those expectations have to be put on hold until the summer transfer window at least.
According to ESPN, on a statement published by Dortmund’s Sporting director Michael Zorc made it very clear and confirmed that there is no way that Pulisic would be leaving the club until the summer transfer window at least, “We are planning with him at least until the end of the season. We will need Christian significantly.”
Chelsea may have to look to sign another top class forward as Pulisic looks like he won’t be leaving the Bavarian club anytime soon. If Chelsea wants to compete for the Premier League title, they need a proper goalscorer and Pulisic staying at Dortmund is indeed a big blow.
