Chris Sutton calls Chelsea a crisis club and fears the season can become much worse

Chelsea can be termed currently as a “crisis club” says Chris Sutton, who is of the opinion that under the guidance of Frank Lampard, the current season can become much worse.

It is reported that a growing feeling of uncomfortable and uneasiness is surrounding the club’s players and fans unlike what was there during the initial phase of the summer transfer.

The Blues were in 17 games unbeaten streak in all competitions and has suddenly halted with a series of disastrous performances. The 1-0 loss against Everton was the beginning of the defeats and since then, their performance has gone downwards.

Lampard and co. have just earned four points from their previous four games, the latest being a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge against Aston Villa.

Having played a game more than Liverpool, Chelsea is six points short and Sutton gives a worrisome review of Lampard’s position as a manager if he fails again to deliver three points from the following games.

“At the moment, they are a crisis club because they are underperforming,” the former Chelsea striker told BBC Radio Five Live. “They are flat and that’s why Frank needs to get a few wins under his belt and extremely quickly because it can, as we know, turn ugly at Chelsea.

“Whether we like it or not, this is a totally different season for Frank. The pressure is on; he has spent the big money. Now the pressure will build.

“I don’t want to go too early on Chelsea and Frank because if they win three on the spin, they will be up into second place and we’ll be saying ‘can they win the title again?’ and that’s the way it is.

“I don’t think Chelsea can win the title. They have to get back to a way of playing where they really find their rhythm.”

To top that, Chelsea’s expensive signing duo- Timo Werner and Kai Havertz has been totally a flop in the Premier League and failed to deliver any match-winning performances so far.

Werner has been so poor in front of the goal and so ineffective without the ball that Lampard has started losing faith on him. He is ina goal drought that is making the club suffer in crucial league games.
