Chelsea’s top transfer target Declan Rice has reportedly turned down the offer to put pen to paper on a new deal at West Ham United.
The England international defensive midfielder is one of the top names on the shopping list for Thomas Tuchel ahead of this coming summer when Chelsea are expected to overhaul their ranks.
Rice’s long drawn out contract standoff at the London Stadium has given birth to talk that Chelsea, joined by the likes of Manchester United and Liverpool, would be interested in launching a bid for the West Ham skipper.
According to a claim from the Italian transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, Rice has rebuffed a third contract offer at West Ham despite the boss David Moyes asserting that the Englishman remains untouchable to his suitors in the market.
Rice’s latest snub of a new deal with The Hammers means that the midfield maestro has dismissed the plans of becoming the highest-paid player in the club’s history with a wage of £200,000 a week.
