Chelsea’s hopes of signing Inter Milan ace Lautaro Martinez handed a blow

Chelsea’s hopes of signing Inter Milan ace Lautaro Martinez have been handed a blow with Inter unlikely to sanction their talisman’s sale anytime soon.

The Argentina international has been one of the most influential players for his side, featuring 12 times for Simone Inzaghi’s men in the Serie A this season, but his contract at the San Siro is due to expire in 2026.

With the uncertainty looming over his future in Milan, some of Europe’s biggest clubs, which includes the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United, had been credited with an interest in Martinez’s signature.

According to a report from football.london, however, the times might have changed now with Inter no longer under pressure, owing to financial constraints, to accept a bid from Martinez’s big-name suitors after the Italians progressed to the Champions League knockout stages.

This dampens potential interest from Chelsea in moving in for a highly-rated frontman to provide the solution to Chelsea’s struggles in the final third of the pitch which have been on show this season.
