The latest reports have claimed that Bournemouth is set to offer Callum Wilson a long term contract extension which will tie him down to the Vitality Stadium for another five years running until 2024.
Chelsea is in a difficult spot at the moment as Belgian superstar Eden Hazard has left the club to join La Liga giants Real Madrid in a staggering £132 million deal. The 28-year-old Belgian wasn’t the only big figure to leave Stamford Bridge as even Maurizio Sarri departed the club after a job offer came in from Serie A club Juventus earlier this month.
Former Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard was the officially unveiled as the club’s new manager but the 41-year-old Englishman has a big problem as the West London club was struck with a transfer ban which discards them from signing any players over the next two transfer windows.
However, Chelsea was looking to negotiate a deal with Bournemouth which included that Callum Wilson would join Stamford Bridge next summer. The 27-year-old was a transfer target for Chelsea in the January transfer window earlier this year as well but the Blues decided to sign Gonzalo Higuain on loan instead.
Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe is now desperate to keep Wilson at the club after the English forward showed some impressive displays last season scoring 15 goals across all competitions and also notching up five assists in the process.
The Cherries are preparing a long term contract offer for Wilson which would see him earn an improved salary of around £24 million across five seasons with Bournemouth overarching the peak years of his career.
Chelsea will be gutted to know if Wilson decides to sign this contract extension with Bournemouth as they are in dire need of reinforcements to rebuild and the 27-year-old England forward was one of their prime targets.
