Serie A champions Inter Milan remain the frontrunners in the race to sign Chelsea full-back Emerson Palmieri but are unwilling to meet the €20 million price-tag being demanded by Thomas Tuchel’s side.
Reports from Gazzetta dello Sport claim that the Italians are considering tabling an offer only half of what is being demanded by Chelsea with Emerson’s deal at the Bridge coming to a close next summer.
Inter Milan are long-term suitors for the Blues left-back
The newly crowned champions of Italy are not new entrants in the mix to sign Emerson who is way down the pecking order in the Chelsea shirt and has been very limited first-team involvement this past season.
Inter had registered their interest in signing the Italy international last summer as well but Chelsea had held onto the 26-year-old who was a recipient of a Champions League winners medal very recently following the Blues clinching European glory.
Napoli also interested in a swoop for the Chelsea defender
Inter Milan are joined in the race to sign Emerson by their close domestic rivals Napoli who are now under the charge of Emerson’s former manager in Luciano Spalletti.
Both Italian outfits are believed to be keen on the Stamford Bridge outcast but are holding onto their purse strings with the player having just a year to go on his contract with the Blues.
