Chelsea zero in on Bayern Munich defender Benjamin Pavard as next summer’s target

Chelsea have reportedly zeroed in on Bayern Munich defender Benjamin Pavard as a potential name on their shopping list for the next summer.

The Stamford Bridge camp are busy preparing contingency plans in case the veteran centre-back Thiago Silva leaves the club at the end of the season amid rumours of his return to AC Milan.

Silva is yet to extend his current terms in the English capital and the Chelsea boss Graham Potter is alerted to the situation and wants to scout the transfer market for reinforcements to shore up his backline.

According to a report form The Daily Express, Chelsea are looking to revive their interest in the France international Pavard who was tentatively linked with a move to the west Londoners during the pre-season before Chelsea went for other options.

Pavard’s current deal with Bayern is due to expire in the summer of 2024 and the Bundesliga champions are aware that they could be forced to part ways with the player in the summer to avoid losing him on a free transfer.
