Chelsea are worried over Jorginho’s desire to return to Italy with talk doing the rounds that the midfielder could run down his deal at Stamford Bridge which is due to expire next summer.
The 30-year-old maestro has been one of the most important players in the Chelsea camp since Thomas Tuchel took charge in 2020 but Jorginho is yet to pen a new long-term deal with the west London giants.
According to a report from the Evening Standard, it is claimed that Jorginho can sign a pre-contract agreement with a new club in January which could convince Chelsea to remain on the search for midfield reinforcements.
There is uncertainty over the player’s future in the Blues shirt beyond the 2022-23 campaign as it is understood that Jorginho wants to move back to Italy where the likes of Juventus and Napoli are keen on his signature.
Chelsea have brought in Swiss international Denis Zakaria on deadline day to freshen their midfield but the Juventus man arrives initially on loan with the decision up to Tuchel to make the move permanent for a £26 million fee.
