Chelsea are said to be weighing up a shock approach for Manchester United rebel Cristiano Ronaldo who is all but certain to leave Old Trafford.
The Portuguese superstar was linked with a move to Stamford Bridge last summer only for the then-Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel to resist tabling a bid to sign the aging forward despite co-owner Todd Boehly keen on the transfer.
Tuchel’s successor in the Stamford Bridge top job, Graham Potter, too has shared the former’s concerns over bringing in Ronaldo at a time when Chelsea could do with some fresh blood to bolster their misfiring front line.
According to a report from Metro, it is claimed that Chelsea are now gearing up to move in for Ronaldo following his explosive interview with Piers Morgan which has put his future in the United shirt into great uncertainty.
The Red Devils camp have put out a statement in the aftermath of the interview which has hinted that the club are prepared to terminate Ronaldo’s contract and let him make a move elsewhere when the January window opens.
