Chelsea are reportedly weighing up a surprise move for Manchester United target Ivan Toney as Thomas Tuchel looks to reinforce his attacking roster this summer.
The Blues head coach has his sights on Barcelona’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang but talks to bring the former Arsenal talisman to Stamford Bridge have failed to take off despite Barcelona being open to the sale.
According to a report from The Daily Mirror, it is claimed that Chelsea could be registering their interest in moving in for the Brentford striker Toney who also has the likes of Everton and Manchester United chasing his signature.
United are said to have been keeping close tabs on Toney all summer with the Old Trafford camp on the lookout for an emergency signing should their star forward Cristiano Ronaldo push for his exit before September 1’s deadline.
Chelsea, meanwhile, are seeking at least one new signing to bolster the forward options at Thomas Tuchel’s disposal with striking duo Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner being deemed surplus to requirements earlier in the window.
