Chelsea want to sign a centre-back and a striker in the January transfer window with the boss Graham Potter keen to bolster those areas in his squad.
The Blues’ new co-owners are determined to carry on spending despite forking out in excess of £250million last summer, a Premier League record, on new players under then manager Thomas Tuchel.
According to a report from The Athletic, it is claimed that the Stamford Bridge outfit are searching the transfer market for a centre-back to reinforce their backline and a No.9 to add firepower to the attacking ranks.
It is understood that Chelsea were prioritizing signing a new striker even before the knee injury to Armando Broja which has sidelined the young Albanian forward for what remains of the season in a major blow to Potter’s squad strength.
Chelsea have an agreement in place with RB Leipzig to sign France frontman Christopher Nkunku next summer, but the club are convinced that they need to bring in short-term cover for the front line with Broja out on the sidelines.
