From the start, Chelsea made sure that the score won’t stay goalless for long.
Morata just can’t score a goal to get himself a flow. With the easiest of chance being missed, his counterpart Giroud was also puzzled seeing that miserable miss. Juhasz stood there like a rock every time Chelsea brought the ball into the box, denying Morata almost every time with his defensive skills.
Loftus-Cheek did create a quality move skipping through 4 defenders only to fall down near the goal for an unheard cry.
Danger did come in for Chelsea when Kepa and Christensen’s mismatch almost gave Nego a free shot but the Frenchman took a shot only to be missed. Moments later Vidi got another chance but Nego’s tame shot reached only as far as the hands of Kepa.
The first half ended goalless but with a certainty of a good number of goals to be scored in second half.
52 minutes into the game and Morata had missed another straightforward header. Sarri didn’t waste any time to bring Hazard in the field and substituted him with Pedro.
The day had finally come when Morata would get his name of the sheet and it meant so much to the Spaniard that he almost shed into tears. No celebration just pure relief. He also knew with the skill set he has got, the goal was coming.
Ross Barkley also came too close to scoring his first goal after his header had hit the crossbar.
The game that could have been a 5-0 or a 6-0, eventually ended a 1-0 win for Chelsea, courtesy of Videoton’s indomitable will.
Kudos to Videoton for playing out of their skins and making a game competitive that could have been Chelsea’s a long time ago. Chelsea had to work so hard to get 3 points that a game was always their’s from the start was almost taken away by Vidi.
