Chelsea will face Ligue 1 side, Rennes in their home game in Stamford Bridge Champions League on Wednesday.

The French club will come in search of their first-ever win in the UCL and the presence of their former player, Edouard Mendy will surely gain the spotlight. Although Chelsea was criticized for their draw against Sevilla in their Matchday 1 in UCL, the Blues defeated Krasnodar in style to get to the top of the group.

Lampard’s side is going on a nine-game unbeaten streak and has lost only to SPurs in their Carabao Cup tie-breaker. The recent performances have gained the praise of several top football professionals and as a unit, they look dangerous.

On the other hand, Rennes has not tasted victory in their last four matches but they made a comeback to win 2-1 and that has surely uplifted their mood. Rennes have improved their performances before the October international break and have just conceded six goals during their last five games.

TEAM NEWS

The growing fatigue is the primary concern for the Blues as players like Timo Werner, Kai Havertz, and Ben Chilwell has been used week in and week out. Christian Pulisic will be still recovering from his injury he got before last match day along with Billy Gilmour.

There are also rumours about Kai Havertz not been spotted in the training which means she can be out of the game to get proper rest. Apart from these, Marcos Alonso will be back after he was suspended and the likes of Mateo Kovacic or Olivier Giroud may even get the chance to play. Earning three points from this match will keep Chelsea at the top of the group table.
