Chelsea are doing extremely well under new manager Thomas Tuchel and he might just be the right fit for the Londoners as their boss. Even though Chelsea won against Barnsley, it was far from comfortable and they would like to win games by better margins in the future. The Blues of Chelsea will be up against ailing Newcastle next who are reeling for points and also have Callum Wilson injured, which is a huge blow to them.
There will be a lot of changes to be expected in the starting XI as Tuchel tried to play some of his fringe players in the FA Cup game. It is evidently visible to everyone now that the new manager has some favourites and only prefers to play them and trusts them. Chelsea will be expected to take things in control against Newcastle and win easily.
Let us now have a look at how Thomas Tuchel might set his side up against Newcastle in the Premier League this weekend.
THE 3-4-3
The 3-4-3 is clearly the most-likeliest Thomas Tuchel’s system and formation as he has used it in all his games at the helm in Chelsea. Callum Hudson-Odoi has been arguably the most improved player under the new manager and has been a revelation. He has always a good attacking player on the right-wing but his role in the right wing-back role has been magnificent with his energy providing the width for Chelsea.
Timo Werner looks to have gained a lot of confidence and has seemed to have a spring in his step while on the ball. The German looks like the Werner we know of old, how he used to play in the Bundesliga for RB Leipzig. Christian Pulisic the likeliest to start upfront along with Werner but he needs to take his game up and to cement his place in the Chelsea side.
Even without Thiago Silva, Chelsea have defended well and will look keen to do so till the veteran comes back to the starting XI.
THE 4-2-3-1
The 4-2-3-1 is another system under Tuchel’s arsenal as he has used it elsewhere in his past club like Borussia Dortmund and PSG. In the double-pivot Kovacic and Kante are likely to play as Jorginho is the most likely candidate to be moved out of the starting XI. Kante will also enable Kovacic to play further forward as the Frenchman is one of the best defensive midfielders in the world.
Another player who has shone under the new manager Cesar Azpilicueta as his experience has brought stability to the Chelsea backline. Rudiger and Christensen will be expected to start in the heart of the Chelsea defence with the injury to Thiago Silva. Mason Mount has continued his development under Tuchel and is impressing everyone.
THE 4-3-3
The only option left for Tuchel in the 4-3-3 system as N’Golo Kante is back in the squad and on the pitch after a long absence. But it is not expected of Chelsea to play in such a system as the 3-4-3 has done wonders for them. This game should be an easy way to three points for Chelsea and nothing less should be expected of them.
