The Spaniard had absolutely nothing to do in the first half, as even when Newcastle threatened, they didn’t have a shot on the Chelsea goal. The 25-year-old had less to do in the second half with Newcastle not making any impact nor having a shot on target.
Cesar Azpilicueta – 6
Didn’t really provide much of an attacking outlet in the first half, holding his position and being firm at the back. In the second half, some of his crossing was relatively poor and a bit of a waste but still solid in defense.
Kurt Zoumam – 8
A really dominating performance from the French center-back, who had to deal with Joelinton and then Andy Carroll as well. Chelsea needed him to be big and strong and he certainly was for most of the game Was surely the 24-year old’s best performances of the season so far.

Completely dominated the midfield and when he had possession he was looking to move it forward as much as possible. Controlled the tempo of the match excellently in the second half as well as continuing his good run of form.

Mason Mount – 5
Struggled to make an impact on the game and had only one excellent chance to make it count although it was on target, it was well saved by Martin Dubrovka. One of the few games where the youngster founf it difficult to work some space he never really made his mark.
Callum Hudson-Odoi – 8
The bright spark throughout the whole match, constantly being positive and running at Deandre Yedlin whenever he had the opportunity. Put in several really good crosses that weren’t finished off by his team-mates and was a constant threat for the opponents.
