Chelsea vs Liverpool: Preview & Predictions – FA Cup 22

The FA Cup is the only domestic trophy left on the table for the London club this season, and neighboring capital club Crystal Palace was no match for the Blues’ dominance in the semi-finals.

Chelsea can relax a little more knowing that they will almost certainly finish in the top four of the Premier League, and closing the season with another FA Cup in the glass case would be a definite way for Tuchel to get on the good side of the new owners right away.

Since the turn of the millennium, no team has ever lost three consecutive FA Cup finals, but Arsenal defeated Sheffield Wednesday both times when the two sides met in the EFL Cup and FA Cup finals in the same season in 1992-93.

The Premier League championship is thus out of their hands, but the EFL Cup has already been placed in the trophy case, a trip to Paris for another Champions League final against Real Madrid awaits, and the Reds might be only 90 minutes away from ending a 16-year FA Cup drought.

Liverpool, on the other hand, will be in no mood to give up the chance to complete a domestic cup double for the first time since the 2000-01 season, and even if the tie goes to penalties as it did in 2006, Klopp’s team has Chelsea’s number.

The return of N’Golo Kante would also be appreciated, but Tuchel is “90 percent convinced” that Jorginho and Ruben Loftus-Cheek will be in the starting lineup.

Meanwhile, Mateo Kovacic could also be sidelined for this contest after an awful tackle from Daniel James on the Croatian midfielder at the midweek.

Score Predictions

We expect the red side of the stadium to be celebrating after 90 minutes as Chelsea’s FA Cup misery continues as Klopp’s front three will be too difficult for Tuchel’s defense to stop.
