Chelsea vs Liverpool: Chelsea player ratings

Kepa Arrizabalaga 6

Couldn’t have done anything to stop Trent Alexander-Arnold’s strike. Made some good saves particularly one save of Firmino. Could do nothing about Liverpool’s second.

Cesar Azpilicueta 6.5

Got in good positions upfield and even played some good crosses. Was unlucky to see his goal ruled by VAR for offside Made some good tackles and was generally solid. Conceded a freekick which led to Liverpool’s second goal.

Andreas Christensen 6

Played a brilliant ball to set Tammy Abraham free but the forward was unable to convert. Should have done better to head the free-kick from which Firmino scored. Went off injured in the first half.

Fikayo Tomori 7.5

Looks increasingly confident with every game. Marked one of the best forwards in the world Salah out of the game. Carried the ball out of defense well.

Marcos Alonso 6.5

Came on early in the game after Emerson picked up an injury. Was slow to react when Firmino headed in the free-kick for Liverpool’s second. Got some good crosses in which Abraham and Batshuayi should have done better with

Jorginho 6.5

Played some good passes and switched the play well, did well defensively intercepting passes wasn’t intimidated on the occasion as seen when he got in a tussle with Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson.

Mateo Kovacic 6.5

Dribbled with the ball well and covered Liverpool’s midfielders well. Went for glory with a volleyed shot that went wide in the first half.

N’golo Kante 7.5

Back in the starting eleven and showed Lampard what he’s been missing. Scored a Hazardesque goal to bring Chelsea back in the game when went on a run and dug the ball inside the goal. Showed his defensive capabilities when he ran the length of the pitch to recover the ball from Mo Salah.

Mason Mount 6.5

Stood in an offside position at the start of the move which led to a goal that was ruled out by VAR. Should have equalized late in the game for Chelsea when he was played in by Alonso but went with his left and shot wide,

Willian 6

Was picked to start his third game in a row, tracked Mane well and never game him joy down the right. Got in good positions and his cross should have led to a goal but it was ruled out by VAR

Tammy Abraham 5.5

Was brought down back to earth after his scoring run. Should have scored in the first half when he was clean through on goal but shot straight at the goalkeeper. Looked frustrated and could never get the better of arguably the best center-back in the world Virgil Van Dijk.
