It has been perfect start for imperfect Chelsea, making it 4 wins out of 4 in first four of Premier league season 2018/19.
Chelsea won the match 2-0 against Bournemouth and pleased the home crowd. It certainly seemed like the match would end up a goalless draw with the stubborn defence of the Cherries not giving enough chances to the Blues. Though Hazard was spectacular with his dancing feet and his performance was a sight for sore eyes.
Chelsea were defeated last season by the same team with a scoreline of 3-0. “Chelsea are a different team this year, a totally different way of playing,” said Cherries boss Eddie Howe, after the loss yesterday.
And avenging their loss was a perfect cheer for the fans. The start was a decent one with Bournemouth missing two goal scoring opportunities in first half. This time again like the previous two games against Arsenal and Newcastle, Chelsea sealed the match in last 5 minute of the game with Hazard scoring the goal through Begovic’s left hand.
The first goal too came in the later half after a one-two pass between Giroud and Pedro was right cornered by Pedro. Before the first goal the match seemed to be in balance. Marcus Alonso did get chances to score but was denied by goalkeeper and also his poor shots that were far away from the post.
Maurizio Sarri was happy but not happy with his team’s performance and had a diplomatic statement saying:
“I’m very happy with 12 points in four matches. But I always think we can do more. We can improve,” said the former Napoli boss.
Despite defeat, Bournemouth remain sixth in the table after two wins and a draw from their first four matches.
After a strong start awaits a bigger test and the Blues will have to swim through the waves that come their way.
