Chelsea unwilling to match Mason Mount’s demands of tripling his wages

Chelsea are said to be unwilling to match playmaker Mason Mount’s demands of tripling his wages to pen a new long-term deal with the west London club.

Mount’s future at Stamford Bridge has been the subject of much speculation in recent weeks with the England international holding out for a major hike in his wages to stay put with Graham Potter’s side.

He is reportedly unhappy over his  £80,000 a week wage which pales in comparison to what Chelsea’s new signings such as the likes of Raheem Sterling and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang pocket and Mount has made the same clear to the Chelsea board.

According to a report from The Daily Mail, however, talks regarding a new deal between Mount and Chelsea have broken down with the 24-year-old rejecting Chelsea’s latest offer after it didn’t match his wage demands.

Mount has 18 months left on his current terms at the Bridge and it remains to be seen whether the new Todd Boehly regime, who have been pushing for a major rebuild of the squad, plan to resume talks with Mount at some point.
