Chelsea to step up their efforts to sign Southampton’s Romeo Lavia

Chelsea are backed to step up their efforts to sign Southampton’s Romeo Lavia with the long-serving N’Golo Kante close to the exit door at Stamford Bridge.

According to a report from football.london, it is claimed that in their hunt for a replacement with Kante nearing the end of his stay in the English capital, Chelsea have zeroed in on the promising Southampton midfield talent Romeo Lavia.

Kante’s current terms are set to expire at the end of the season and the Frenchman looks intent on signing for FC Barcelona with the Blues not willing to match his demands of a three-year extension with a two year offer on the table from the club.

The Blues have been interested in moving in for a new midfield player to bolster their engine room options which could lose out Jorginho next summer as the Italy international’s contract at the Bridge is due for renewal.

Serie A giants Juventus and Napoli are among the clubs mulling over making an approach to Jorginho who remains engaged in contract talks with Chelsea with the club hopeful to tie him down to a new deal.
