Chelsea is looking to buy Ronald Araujo of FC Barcelona to strengthen their squad for the 2024/25 season. Under US owner Todd Boehly, who took over the control from Roman Abramovich, Chelsea has been on a buying spree.
Boehly, who bought the club for £4.25 billion two years ago, is keen on investing in the squad. Chelsea’s aim with Araujo is to strengthen their back line, especially as they might lose Thiago Silva, who plans to return to Fluminense in Brazil.
Although Chelsea got Axel Disasi from Monaco for £38.8 million, coach Mauricio Pochettino wants more solid players in defense to perform better in European games.

Chelsea is keenly watching Araujo, as there are talks he might be up for grabs. Araujo, who is just 25, has played 149 times for Barcelona, scoring 8 times and helping with 4 more. His skills make him a hot prospect in the transfer scene, and Pochettino is all in to grab him if he gets the chance.
Barcelona, on their side, wants Araujo to sign on for more time. But things are up in the air as talks seem to be stuck. Araujo’s deal now has a huge £860 million buy-out clause, yet as he gets closer to the last two years of his contract, his value could drop. This might open a door for a move.
Xavi, boss of Barcelona, has only good things to say about Araujo, calling him “amazing” and hoping he stays with the team into the future. But the tough world of soccer means Barcelona might have to think about offers for Araujo if they can’t lock him down soon.

Chelsea is not alone in wanting Araujo. The club has rivals like Manchester United and Bayern Munich also looking. Yet, Chelsea is very eager and ready to fight for him if Barcelona chooses to sell.
As the time to make deals gets closer, everyone is watching what Araujo will do and what Barcelona will decide about this big move. For Chelsea, getting a player like Araujo could be a big win. It would help them get stronger for fights in their own league and in Europe too.
