Chelsea are reportedly set to renew their long-standing battle with Tottenham Hotspur for signing Everton frontman Anthony Gordon when the transfer window reopens come January.
The London-based bigwigs were credited with a strong interest in moving in for the 21-year-old Gordon in this summer’s window with Chelsea at one stage emerging as the frontrunners to land the forward.
Everton, however, refused to part ways with a player who is highly admired by the head coach Frank Lampard but has made it clear that he would not open to signing a new contract at Goodison Park.
According to a report from The Daily Express, it is understood that the Stamford Bridge camp continues to keep close tabs on Gordon’s situation and would not rule out a mid-year swoop for his services to add to their misfiring front line options.
The Everton starlet has emerged as the focal point of Frank Lampard’s side with a stellar run of displays increasing his stock in the Premier League with Chelsea and Spurs the interested parties.
