Chelsea are set to battle it out with Premier League rivals Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur for signing Yannick Carrasco in this summer’s transfer window.
The Belgium international winger has emerged as a coveted name in the transfer market with three of England’s biggest clubs chasing his signature, according to a report from the Spanish news outet AS.
Thomas Tuchel is on the hunt for much-needed reinforcements in the attacking third of the pitch with the Chelsea boss in line to say his goodbyes to last year’s marquee signing Romelu Lukaku who nears a return to Inter Milan on loan.
With Carrasco tied to Spanish capital club Atletico until 2024, it is expected of Diego Simeone’s side to demand a sizable asking price and drive a hard bargain with Chelsea backed heavily on the financial front by their new owners.
It is understood that Carrasco can be signed by his host of suitor clubs if his release clause worth £51.5 million is activated which would prevent Atletico from playing hardball over the negotiations.
