37-year old goalkeeper Ben Foster is being linked with a shock move to Chelsea FC this summer, according to reports. The ex-England international is also speculated to be on Everton’s shortlist ahead of the upcoming Premier League season.
With a great deal of uncertainty surrounding Kepa Arrizabalaga’s future at Stamford Bridge, Frank Lampard is in the market for a new shot-stopper for his side. The 25-year old Kepa, signed by the Blues in 2018 for a world-record transfer fee paid for a goalkeeper, has been dismal between the sticks across Chelsea FC’s 2019-20 campaign.
Lampard was rumored to be pursuing the signing of Atletico Madrid No.1 Jan Oblak. However, the Spanish club’s £100 million valuation for the Slovenian international caused the Blues to cease their interest in making the move for the 27-year old.
It is understood that the Chelsea FC boss is attempting to sign a cheaper alternative to displace Kepa at the west London club. Foster’s signing will be a very inexpensive affair for Frank Lampard’s side, reports suggest.
The Watford shot-stopper may arrive at the Blues as a short-term solution for Lampard’s goalkeeping crisis. Foster certainly possesses a wealth of experience of playing at the highest level of club football and would be a quality signing for Chelsea FC.
